Carefully selected and prepared by koucha master Okamoto san in Saga prefecture, YUKIKO is a delicious Japanese black tea blended with peels of ginger grown in Kagoshima using no pesticides.

Ginger has been celebrated for centuries for its health, detox and immunity boosting properties. This delicate blend with just the right amount of ginger warms up bodies and souls in many ways.

Producer Information

Okamoto

When he was 28, Okamoto san switched careers and opened a tea shop in Saga City. A blender specializing in Japanese black tea, which is rare in Japan, he travels all over the country to visit tea farmers and select unique koucha. He researches koucha-food pairings, and receives requests for blending black tea from long-established Japanese sweets stores, hotels and restaurants.

Currently the chairman of koucha at the International Friendship Tea Ceremony held at the University of Cambridge, England, Okamoto san published Japan’s first koucha book, “The Book of Japanese Black Tea.” He is working hard to convey the charm and potential of Japanese black tea, such as giving lectures and holding classrooms nationwide, and instructing producers.
