Description

2024 first harvest

Picked during the first harvest, in Miyazaki prefecture, this high-grade organic green tea is extremely rare.

Miyazaki san has created an organic Kamairicha with a blend of the Yabukita and Kanaya Midori cultivars. TOSHIRO has a comforting balance of roasted soybean, cooked bok choy, and asparagus notes. As the tea is enjoyed, the green- yellow liquor develops subtle umami characteristics and notes of toasted cashew and taro.

Pan-fried, TOSHIRO is still very much a green tea, with all of its antioxidants. Its freshness and sweetness come together with a subtle touch of umami for an exquisite balance, undisturbed by a pinch of bitterness. Its low caffein levels make this tea a perfect choice for a late-afternoon brew.

Aromatic Profiles

MIYAZAKI RYO

We have been doing organic cultivation for tea with pesticide-free and chemical fertilizer-free for over 30 years and received certification of organic JAS in 2001.

We produce KAMAIRICHA a true specialty in our region, Miyazaki. Since this technique is difficult to master there are less and less producers that are producing Kamaricha.

The tea is not steamed, but roasted in a large pan. Its fragrance is called “kamaka”, a sweet taste and refreshing feeling and can sometimes recall the scent of Jasmine tea.

MIYAZAKI SABO has won many national awards for their kamairicha, including the Nihoncha Awards in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2021.
