MATSUKO
Premium Organic Matcha
Description
MATSUKO is a ceremonial-grade matcha made with a single-estate blend of the Yabukita, Sae midori and Okumidori cultivars. Its creamy and smooth mouthfeel is accented by a hint of bitterness and a sweet finish.
This matcha is produced by Koga Cha Gyo, the family-operated business of Koga san based in Yame. MATSUKO exemplifies the tastes of Kagoshima-grown leaves and has notes of artichoke, moss, and fresh cut grass, with hints of toasted hazelnut. Organic matcha is rare in Japan in general, and in Kyushu in particular.
The leaves of this premium ceremonial matcha come from a single estate in southern Kagoshima, and are selected by the skilled tea masters of Koga Cha Gyo in Yame.

Perfect
This is everything that I expect from a premium matcha.
Perfect
This was a gift for my mom who loves matcha. She says it’s the best quality matcha she’s had since visiting Japan.
Worth a shot
All of Ikkyu's matchas are great. This one wasn't quite strong enough for me, but still definitely very good quality. Ayame is my favourite so I have to rank this one slightly lower. It is otherwise fabulous.
Pure delight, vibrant green
This matcha is wonderful at a very fair price. The green colour is vibrant and the tea feels well-conserved and not oxidized at all. I have been drinking matcha every morning for years, and my heart is settled on the Matsuko for my morning ritual. It has the perfect level of bitterness for my taste and it delivers steady mind and body energy, for enhanced calm focus, meditation and work
High quality matcha
I love this matcha. I can't drink coffee without feeling nervous and shaky, but I can tolerate the caffeine in matcha very nicely (probably due to the theanins). I've ordered from this company twice now, I usually get a few 40g bags of matsuko and one miyuki. The shipping is very fast to the US, and the matcha is high quality. This particular matcha has a wonderful smell, like fresh cut grass. The color is a vibrant green, and the taste is earthy with minimal bitterness. The directions on the package are in metric, which isn't always easy to convert when you're used to the US's silly imperial system and don't have a scale. My matcha recipe: 1 heaping teaspoon of matcha powder is ~3 grams (I typically use 1/2 tsp to 1 & 1/2 tsp depending on the day), and I will gently heat a little less than 1/4 cup of water to whisk with the powder. I sometimes drink mine as a latte by adding cream or milk, a few drops of monkfruit, and vanilla extract. I'm no connoisseur but I can assure you the matsuko is worth a try.
