First flush (shincha 2023)
A blend of Yabukita and Sae-Midori cultivars, this exceptional sencha made by Koga cha gyo is served onboard a luxury cruise train in Kyushu to showcase the wonderful quality and taste of Yame tea.
As soon as you open its bag, a mouthwatering combination of milk, steamed edamame and toasted pine nut scents will greet you. In your cup, you will enjoy its vibrant green hue and light-bodied liquor. The subtle umami and consistent sweetness of this sencha are particularly enjoyable as they are highlighted by a slight hint of astringency.

What Customers say
I love this tea, it's one of my favorites
Delicate and balanced, with vegetal and malty notes, and a subtle sweetness. Very easy to drink, yet also refined. For me, though, the best aspect of this sencha is its aroma, particularly when brewed at higher temperatures. There's something in it that I can't quite catch — a hint of smoke, perhaps?
A Superstar among many star teas. I've ordered 15 Ikkyu teas and 7 are on my must reorder list, including Maiki. Besides the wonderful taste, what pushes Maiki to Superstar status for me is: 1) the beautiful green color - so lovely in my white Corelle mug; 2) Maiki has a mild but distinctive mood elevating effect - quite unique in my experience, dating back to 1969 when I was enrolled in tea ceremony school.
Great Sencha, indeed great umami in the first steeping and green / grass as well. Do you fancy some Saemidori? Try this tea!
Full of flavour Really good tea, deep flavour, don’t need too much to make a whole pot. Plenty of umami and freshly cut grass.
