Description
This gift box is another creation of Koga san in Yame and is made of 125g of Yame sencha (in the silver cylinder) and 125g of Dento hon gyokuro (golden cylinder). Rewarded with the top prize at Fukuoka prefecture tea competition in their respective categories, they are two competition-grade green teas.The sencha of this luxury set is light-bodied and made from yabukita cultivar.Its pale green liquor has a fragrant aroma with a hint of sweetness and bitterness. Hints of narcissus and collard greens accent notes of bean sprouts, butter lettuce, and pea tendrils. This is a great tea to pair with a light meal.
The dento hon gyokuro is vibrant and made with the saemidori cultivar which is highlighted by the craftsmanship of Koga san.
Notes of steamed zucchini, steamed spinach, and soybean balance with subtle hints of fresh almond and bamboo shoot. It is the perfect accompaniment to a meal.

Koga Kumiko san represents the fourth generation at her family business KOGACHA GYO in Yame, Fukuoka. Working alongside her mother, president of the company, and her father, director of operations, she is a tea instructor.
Dedicated to lead her company through the challenges of the green tea industry in the 21st century, she is in charge of overseas sales. She also travels around the world to give tea seminars to introduce Yame green tea to foreign tea lovers.

COMPETITION SENCHA AND GYOKURO DOUBLE BOX
let me start off with the sencha, i was quite surprised by the flavor. very smooth, vegetable taste and the smell of the leaves after brewing were wonderful. nice green color, every drop leaves a green cloud. theres almost no bitterness in it (i enjoy some bitterness in sencha) so i wasn't a big fan of it but definitely pleased by how unique it was. as for the gykoro, i was blown away. very thick, vegetable broth. almost thought i was drinking a soup. the umami is lovely. and the smell of both the leaves and the drink was wonderful. this gykoro definitely is up there among the best. overall a great set, highly recommend for experienced drinkers.

COMPETITION SENCHA AND GYOKURO DOUBLE BOX
A wonderful set! This Gyokuro now ranked amongst my favourites for its smooth, thick and mellow body and lingering aftertaste. The Sencha is unique too. Unlike most senchas, this is able to withstand a higher brewing temperature, bringing out more flavour with minimal to almost no bitterness. Excellent fragrance too.
