Artist Information
Born in 1972 in the prestigious Nakazato family, home to potter masters for fourteen generations, Nakazato Hanako opened her kiln MONOHANAKO in 2007 after studying her craft under her father, Nakazato Takashi. Her style and creations are unique, reflecting a life spent between Maine, USA, and Karatsu, and remarkably diverse.
“I try to embrace the energy of working intuitively, without pretense”, she explains. Her creation is above all else made for everyday use. Often collaborating with chefs and designers from diverse fields, she is a free spirit, spontaneous, breaking down barriers.
