YUMIKO
Premium Blended and Flavored Koucha
Description
Crafted by koucha expert Okamoto san, YUMIKO is a refined Earl Grey-flavored Japanese black tea infused with bergamot oranges cultivated in Ureshino, Saga prefecture.
The crisp and smooth Ureshino koucha base beautifully marries with the bright, natural bergamot fragrance, creating its distinctive Earl Grey character. Its gentle taste and low bitterness allow the delicate aroma to shine through, making it particularly ideal when served chilled.
Bergamot, originally from Italy, is rare outside its homeland, with Ureshino being one of the few other regions where it thrives, making this tea a rare and exquisite offering.

OKAMOTO
When he was 28, Okamoto san switched careers and opened a tea shop in Saga City. A blender specializing in Japanese black tea, which is rare in Japan, he travels all over the country to visit tea farmers and select unique koucha. He researches koucha-food pairings, and receives requests for blending black tea from long-established Japanese sweets stores, hotels and restaurants.
Currently the chairman of koucha at the International Friendship Tea Ceremony held at the University of Cambridge, England, Okamoto san published Japan’s first koucha book, “The Book of Japanese Black Tea.” He is working hard to convey the charm and potential of Japanese black tea, such as giving lectures and holding classrooms nationwide, and instructing producers.
