A gift
Beautifully packed
First Impressions: Gyokuro
The paper-covered tea can I am currently using was getting worn, so I figured it would be useful to order tea in a can in order to be able to reuse it with future bagged tea. The set arrived quickly and was beautifully packaged. Had I not needed the cans, it would have made a wonderful gift! On to the tea - it turns out this was a wonderful gift to myself! The gyokuro was intensely green and flavorful. I was able to make three cups from the same leaves. The last cup was still delicious, and it is likely I could have even brewed a fourth cup. Though the suggested brewing temp is 158 with 2 minutes of stepping, I usually prefer my tea brewed at much higher temps, 180 or 190, with a much shorter steep time. This makes a cup that is more astringent and bitter, which I enjoy. Today I brewed as I normally do, but will try it tomorrow following Ikkyu's recommendations.
pretty good tea
not exactly what I was expecting in terms of the online description of the tea set. the flavour is good; very green, the umami flavour is on the low side. I would order again.
On tea!
I love it and would like to be kept on your list.
Ikkyu Tea
I am living in Europe and interested in Japanese tea. Ikkyu Tea are based in Japan and have an amazing selection of Japanese tea and tea making equipment. I was touched that Mr. A Bloise personally prepared my shipment. Everything was perfectly packed in multiple wrappings. Ikkyu Tea sell high quality tea at a fair price; they also sell competition teas (gold medal teas from leading growers). It is great to be able to enjoy Japanese tea in Europe. Thank you Ikkyu Team.
