TAKAHASHI YUZO
Established in 1963, the Takahashi green tea factory is located in Usuki (Oita pref., Eastern Kyushu) and produces organic green tea since 2001. It was the first green tea farm in Oita to receive the organic JAS certification in 2001.
Takahashi san is now the second generation of his family to lead his business and is specialized in tamaryokucha, a green tea known for its jade color (tama), quite similar to sencha, but whose leaves have a curly shape, and not needle-like. The very last stage of the processing method is different: the tea leaves are put inside drums and dried with hot air. Takahashi san grows seven different tea cultivars, mainly Yabukita. What Customers say

Great to help lower blood pressure
I found that the tea helps with lowering blood pressure. My body responds to the gaba in the tea and it tastes great.
Wonderful Tea
I enjoy this tea several times a day.
Excellent cold brew
This tea is very nice to drink on an afternoon to shake off some of the stress you've accumulated during the day. Even better, this tea is excellent as a cold brew! Put some tea in a glass of water and put it in the fridge in the morning. It will be a super refreshing and fragrant (reminds me of citrus) tea in the afternoon. Pure delight!
Apple and cinnamon-like flavor but steeps very quickly
I really liked how this tea tasted very sweet and had a great fragrance when I was making it. There is very little astringency to this tea. I tended to use 70-80º C water and got maybe 4 steeps out of it. The issue is that if you steep it for as long as recommended, it will come out very bitter unless you are using a lot of water (500 ml at least) and maybe about 1 tablespoon of leaves. This is because the steeping is inconsistent, and the first steeps leech out most of the flavor, unfortunately. For personal consumption in a 170 ml cup (each using about 150 ml of water per extraction) about 1 tablespoon of leaves, the steep times were best at 10, then 15, then 30, and then 45 seconds. After this, there is not much flavor. Overall great tea!
